Planning Studio:
Revere, MA

For this planning studio for the Beachmont station area in Revere, Massachusetts, I produced a phased site plan that is responsive to civic needs, sensitive to environmental vulnerabilities, and capitalizes on the location’s underutilized access to transit.

Located on the northern end of the defunct Suffolk Downs racetrack, this site has substantial potential to meet the needs of residents and city government alike. Given the city’s overburdened public school system, the plan’s incorporation of a new high school serves as a community anchor, while also maintaining and enhancing the green space needed to alleviate the site’s drainage issues. By phasing in housing, retail, and office development, the site can connect two previously-separated parts of the city along an active commercial corridor, while allowing residents easy access to jobs nearby and in Boston via the adjacent rail transit station.
